That is a US 2 cent coin from 1860's. Nice find! I don't know about the other object, but might have something to do with a watch.

the coin looks like a US 2 cent piece. The other thing, maybe a sword hilt ? The US Model 1860 Staff & Field officers sword was a pattern used for many many organizations including non-military groups and the guards came in a variety of patterns.

There were two variations from that year, Large motto and Small motto. The Small motto is the rarest and fairly valuable. If you are able to, I recommend to take a look at that.
