I currently use a Tesoro Vaquero and would like to know how a Minelab Safari or a GT would stack up again ts the Tesoro for coin hunting. Depth and being able to work in a moderately trashy area is important. Thanks

With the screen on the Safari and the extra frequencies it makes disc a little easier and accurate. The Sov GT has the Iron Mask which the Vaquero doesn't so you could be digging more trash with the V if the mask was turned on. The Sov GT also has a larger DD coil as does the Safari with a wider foot print at the bottom of the field so it will "see" more coins. In all trashy areas you should use a smaller coil to get between the trash.

I don't know how long you have had the Vaquero, but it is a very capable detector and has one of the best discriminators out there in my opinion. With the Safari you would have a number system that would help determine if the target is a pull tab or a nickle, but you will also lose some gold and silver rings. I really liked the Vaquero for coin shooting.

well some of you might diagree but my best coin shooters have been the tesoro deleon and golden umax and my 1236x2 fisher
