I know some of you are very good at IDing coins. Well here is a toasty one for you. I had posted this with my "today's finds" about a month ago and did not get around to posting it here until now. Iron Patch suggested either french or German jeton. Here it is next to a large cent for size reference. Forget about the reverse. Thanks.

Actually it is a French coin as the legend seems right. The cruder bust, and difference in spacing could be the mint, or maybe it's counterfeit. It's much smaller than the LG cent so likely a Half Sol or undersized ctft 1 Sol. Can you match anything for the reverse side?

I think you have it IP! The reverse is toasted but I can make out the ex in Rex. I guess that wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Too bad no date but judging from my other find its late 1700's.

A friend on mine thought Sol back then, which is why I decided to look again seeing the post. This time the smaller size caught my attention more, and that would account for the tighter spacing. The Louis jetons with the similar bust tend to be brass, so yet another reason to think coin. Anyway, at least it seems to be solved now.
