I was curious. Are there certain coin delivering companies that actively weed out / presort silver upfront?

For example, I have a few banks that use Loomis and I don't think I've ever found silver in a Loomis roll. Granted I probably don't CRH as much as some. I have seen posts with half dollar boxes saying "No silver" somewhere. I can't remember where I saw it so there must be some companies either presorting or actively trying to discourage CRH'ing.

It's been a while since we've had this post. Several years ago, I contacted both Brinks and Loomis in Rochester, NY to ask that question. Both answered saying that they aren't allowed to do that as they don't own the coins. The coins are owned by banks or, in the case of Loomis here, Coinstar. I used to get Brinks boxes and would find silver in them. Now all I can get are Loomis boxes and I do find silver in those, too. However, since they empty the Coinstar machines in my area, boxes filled from Coinstars are less likely to have silver in them.
For example, this week I didn't get any silver in the quarters or dimes. I did get 2 war nickels, though. But last week I got 1 silver quarter and 3 silver dimes. So you never know. That's the fun of the hunt. If it isn't fun, then maybe you should do something else. I find it relaxing to sit in front of the TV and go through boxes of coins. My wife thinks I'm nuts, until I find something.

I get a Loomis box every week (and have for 4+ years) and I can say definitively that there is silver there.
I've been on a long silver drought (12 silver halves in 37 boxes since the end of March), but it's not due to Loomis culling out silver.
January thru March delivered 43 silver in just 6 boxes.
Silver is out there -- just be patient.
To prove my point, this week's box contained a lonely lady (at least it wasn't a skunk box) - the first Walking Liberty half I've found in a box in 2022.

Good info. I appreciate it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't pounding sand with my efforts... even if they are more casual. I'll tend to only pick up a few rolls of change every other week or so.

What is really happening is that more people are searching the same stores of coin. The armored car companies all have their supplies of coin, and the Fed isn't replenishing it from their own reserves, since the amounts are already adequate for spending purposes. As people request boxes of coin, the armored car companies fill those requests from their fixed supplies, which change little.

As time goes by, less and less silver is encountered since it is pulled by other searchers.
