"Coin-Cart"!! (Pictures Added 1/30/12!)
Hey Hey,
I've been using an old duffel bag to tote around the half dollars. The problem is the wheels on it are too small and the bag is too big. The coins, whether it's a box of halves or a deposit bag, slosh around which causes the bag to tip over.
I figured I needed something more "rigid". So, I grabbed a long retired plastic milk crate from the garage and created my own homemade "coin-cart". I used masonite hardboard to bring the box up to the right height. I can stand boxes of halves up on end. Now bear in mind that the masonite is only temporary. I would like to use sheet aluminum, but it's a bit pricey. Everything is held together with 3/8" bolts. I can even pad lock it shut. I plan on climbing massive curbs with this baby!
I have about $75 invested at this point. But, I think it is worth every penny. I still have some finishing work to do. I need to tighten nuts, put some lock nuts on the axles and use the hacksaw to trim down the bolts.
While I have your attention, I'm going to embark on a bank run tomorrow. I'll let you know how my "coin-cart" performs.
H$H!!
