Found this in a farm field today and thought I got another large cent but when I got back home I noticed it had 4 holes that look to be for a button. There is a figure in the background. It totally feels and sounds like a coin if you drop it on a hard surface. It even rang up a solid 80-81 on my AT Pro . There is nothing I can make out on the back. It's pretty toasted. Any ideas?

Thanks!

That's a really interesting find. I'd take that over one without the holes in it....probably

What's the significance of it? Sorry I'm not up on my coins. Sounds old...any idea of the time frame? This is turning into something more than I originally thought. Appreciate all the responses!

It's a British Halfpenny and dates 1770-1775.

It's posted above. The holes were made probably to use it as a button, or made into a kids toy that you would spin on a string called a whizzer or buzzer.

If I'm correct a buzzer has 2 holes only... or not?
I originally thought "so probably a button". But the arrengement of the holes is odd... Any more insight Iron Patch?

I would say probably a button or something entirely different, but if you click the link above it shows a whizzer with three holes. That's what they call it anyway.
