I am so tired of waiting for the new coil to come out! I have the 11" and have worked my sites to that coils ability. A couple of sites are pretty trashy and a couple of sites are deep to the targets, I want to pick up a new coil but am still not sure if I should go with the 9" for better target separation or the 13" x 11" for improved depth.

Is the 13" x 11" coils depth any better than the 11"?

How much better is the separation with the 9"? How much depth is lost?

Thanks.

Where is the 13" available? Man I could go for that

I found that the 11x13 was not a Significant amount deeper than the 11, it did separate well for it's size.
The 9 has better separation in heavy trash or iron than the 11 or 11x13. less targets under the coil to ID.
Each one 9 to 11 to 11x13 increased depth by about 1" - 2".
My soil the 9" I get up to 10" on some targets. Don't think I need/want to dig deeper.
Of course that's just me.
Your results WILL very.
Soil conditions, degree of trash and program setup will make all the difference.
I'm waiting for the new coil for a few of the heavy trash sites that I've hit with the 9" to see if I missed anything.

I don't want to sound like a negative Nelly, but here's my 2 cents: rather than spend hundreds of dollars to get a 9 or 13 inch coil while waiting for the new coil, modify your programs for the conditions--I guarantee you'll find something you've missed. Read up on CZ's posts here and the "other" site....I think you'll find you'll have a renewed weapon for your sites. Good luck!

BTW the latest I have on new coil availability is Fall 16.

The nine will pick the targets from the trash better rhan the 11. wasnt that much of a difference in the 13in coil from the 11 and I needed money to buy my son in law a detector so I sold mine but will more than likely buy another one just to hunt big open fields with when get xmas bonus. If you got some trashy sites to hunt the 9 is what I would go with. The nine will get down there too but have not done a depth test on the two.I do like my 11 but it takes the backseat when trash comes into play.

Well I bit the bullet and ordered the 9" thanks calabash you answered my question perfectly.

Ggossage, I will keep tweaking programs/ settings. I haven't hunted in the factory settings for at least 6 months. I will check out CZ's posted too.

Thanks for all the info guys, So much good information when we all put our knowledge out there. Happy hunting!! Don't forget that father's day is a good time to discuss upgrades with the wile. Lol

your welcome if you want a killer trash program let me know and I will tell you how I hunt iron and trash with the deus. send me a pm if you want the trash program.

Got the coil but it's messed up. Connects but no sound or reading on the remote. Tried everything, even reinstalled 3.2... 11 inch works fine. I guess I will have to return it. Thumbs down....

bummer so it connect? did you try entering it in your head phones to see it it would work with them

If you already know this, then forgive me in advance. Was just re-reading manual last
night and caught a blurb about having to select the different coil prior to use. I take it that you did that?

I tried that, the headphones connect and the coil light flashes. I get battery status but that's it.

Yes, I did that. Bad coil. It happens I guess. The good thing is that I can return it.

Bummer. Definitely don't give up on that coil. When you get the new one, I think you will like it. But it is important to note the DOA coil. If it happens again, might be a QA problem at XP so keep us posted.

Update: The coil I got from Amazon / Detector Experts was returned, just got the replacement and it works without issue. Funny thing was that the one I returned didn't come with ant xp box and it had the Deus name on a little bubble on the right side across from the led. Also the xp sticker was a little triangle instead of the regular longer sticker that goes down the middle. Anyhow my guess is that it's an old model or something. Happy days are here again.
