Coil "upgrade" for F70

Recently got an F70 unit. Was looking to get a larger coil, either the fisher 11" DD or maybe an excellerator 10x12" butterfly. Wondering if either would be "better" for certain things, if either might work deeper than the other or if they perform similarly? Relic/cache/meteorite searching..... leaning towards just going with the fisher 11".

Re: Coil "upgrade" for F70

I tried the 11 DD on my F-70 and found it a little quieter than the stock but depth was about the same.

Personally I'd try my luck with the butterfly.

Badger...I am thinking of buying the F70 with the extra 11" coil. Are you saying that using the 11" coil is not worth it? :icon_scratch:

I have seen where adding the 11" coil to the Omega makes a big difference, but I haven't heard anything about the F70. Your input is appreciated. :icon_thumright: HH Lee

I have both.............

I would definately recommend the 11" Fisher coil over the 10X12. Push comes to shove, stock factory coils are almost always better than aftermarkets. In my test garden I saw No improvement with the EX over the stock coil....in fact........the stock coil performed better.............. just my opinion. Streak!

Well you are almost comparing apples to oranges here. A Concentric is going to have better depth than a DD of the same size. Though the depth advantage is only going to be in a sweet spot at the center of the coil. The DD will have better depth at the sides of the coil as well as handling mineralized soil better. The concentric will also pinpoint better than the DD. As far as covering more ground deeper you will get alot more accomplished using the DD. If you still think there are some deep signals you are missing you can slap on the concentric and give it a shot. The key would be to greatly overlap your swings as the sweet spot is very small.

There is alot of information about the 10" and 11" coils for the F70/75 in this forum alone. Doing a google search on Fisher F70 coils turns up alot of good information as well.

Everything I've said has already been said on this forum so read some of the older posts.

Re: Coil "upgrade" for F70

Ended up ordering the factory 11" DD coil and cover to try. We're still covered up with white stuff, I'm hoping it will be here by week's end though.
