It will be better than the D2 but it is still 10" long so it can be rather noisy. That said, I use mine just about exclusively in trash since the 4x6 just does not cover enough ground.. If you are doing small areas of trash where you KNOW there are good targets for sure and will spend a lot of time then the 4x6 is what you want. For schools and parks where I hunt, the 6x10 never comes off and depth is still very good and it is more stable and a little less pron to EMI than the D2.

The Eclipse 5.3 is quite a bit deeper than the 4X6" but separates better than the 6X10". Also being a concentric it discriminates much better than the other two, especially bottle caps.

So the 5.3 would be the eay to go?

Depends on how much area you want to cover.. you talking park or school field with lots of trash or cellar hole .. 5.3 covers about the same ground as a 4x6... that would be about 5" per swing you you will need to overlap to get coverage.. Which tool is correct for the job depends on the job.. You don't wash your car with a water pick.. but it does a great job on your teeth.

The 5.3 is a must have coil IMO! It is the perfect sized coil for detecting trashy areas and smallish yards.

I agree with what has been said, All be it the 10" DD is Hyper sensitive and as good as the smaller coils The 6x10 Looses about 1 maybe 2 inches to the 10"DD and the 5.3 will hit coins in the 7 to 9 inch range, It is less effected to mineralization than the larger coils and being a concentric it might lower the GB setting in hot ground where a DD might read 85 a Concentric would read somewhere between 70 to 74 which is a good thing because it gives you more Ground balance settings in Reserve, So really the 5.3 can and will give the depth maybe a bit more than the 6x10 and it also has better separation and better ID along with lowering the Ground balance setting,

hope this helps.

You can test this for your self just by talking two coils outside and Ground balancing in the prospecting mode and reading the number in the top right hand side of the Display.

Dont use a concentric if you are in a high mineralized area it will suck and drive you nuts with chaning settings all the time.. Go with a DD in that case and I do use the 4x6 its a great coil.

And what are your GND readings from high to Low where you detect ?

I will try the 5.3 coil for now.

I will try the 5.3 coil for now.

The little 5.3 did not lower the GB setting like the other concentrics do, but they did field test it in Australia and they were hitting Gold weighing 0.06 grams in the worst ground conditions so don't fall for that old rubbish about DDs because the 5.3 only sees a Tiny amount of ground compared to a 10 or 12 inch coil and the machine will deal with It.

I got another 5.3 yesterday and I airtested it on a 1977 Quarter in the normal relic mode it bleeped on it at 9 and a 1/2 to 10 inches, So I pressed the touch pad Twice and put it in Iron ID and it was giving the 3rd tone All metal/threshold sound at 13 to 14 inches so then I flicked it in to the prospecting mode and I could here it all the way out to 14 to 16 inches and that is the absolute maximum distance achievable , So because every one thinks DDs are cool they are actually costing you Huge Depth and Concentric coils do NOT loose sensitivity as they get bigger unlike DD's. You don't need a DD unless your ground is 80 and above but that rule only applies to coils of around 9" and bigger,

The 4x6 DD will signal a Quarter at 8 inches in the Relic mode and in the Iron ID setting it sees it ay about 12 to 13 inches ( Sort Of ) but in the prospecting mode it is very vague at 13 to 14 inches and on Tiny test bits of lead weighing 0.01 grams it struggles to see them at 1 inch where the 5.3 will see it at 1 and a half to 2 inches, So the 5.3 is way more sensitive to tiny nuggets and the signal on a Quarter what the 5.3 does at 15 inches the 4x6 does at 12 to maybe 13 inches with the machine maxed out in the prospecting mode.

Anyway have a read of this and go from there, Ok, and let me know what you think ok. John.

Yep the 5.3 will get you more depth over a similar size DD coil and the 5.3 will do pretty good in trash because of its smaller size, but the DD coils do shine when you need to go slow and pick through higher trash area's. My problem is I'm always afraid to lose those real deep good old targets and even with the D2 or ultimate 13 coil if you slow way down you can still get through a good amount of trash but having a smaller coil to go over the extra heavy trash area's is always good to make sure your not passing some good stuff by. Yep I agree, I have managed to pick my way through junk filled sites, But your ears have to be on maximum Gain and on top of your game, with sounds harder than it really is, I used the 12" concentric and I did good, I was a Man on a Mission :laughing7::laughing7:

I use the 4x6 Excelerator II Pro for trashier areas. Also it's good for finding the shallow Decigram size nuggets:icon_scratch:.
(that's a 1/10 of a gram:icon_thumleft:

DETECH 8X6 COIL IS WHAT I USE ON THE MXT PRO AND HAVE REALLY GOOD RESULTS WITH IT .

I need to get a coil for my mxt all pro because I hunt really trashy areas and I have a chance to buy the 6×10 eclipse.I know I will lose some depth vs my D2 coil but will the 6×10 do good in trashy areas? Thanks for any info.

Well I have tested the life out of the 5.3 coil and it the Hottest Coil ever made for the MXT Series, So Far Nothing can match the 5.3 Eclipse Coil on the MXT Bar None. and it can hit coins up to 9-10 inches deep,

How hot can you run the 5.3 coil? I don't have the 5.3 coil but I know the 4x6 coil I can run cranked up all the way without too much noise at all and I'm guessing the 5.3 being small you could run wide open as well. Thanks for any info and HH

numbers please, iam allways looking for good starting settings. thanks brad

Well I ran it flat out and it made a sight noise but not chattering in the prospect mode,

PM coming.
