Hi Jeff of PA,

You may be using cheap beans. Try using Arabica instead of Robusta. (It's easy to identify Robusta beans by taste. Their flavor closely resembles the wood flavor in popsicle sticks.)

Also, if the beans are old and dry looking instead of shiny, the taste will be worse.

It then depends on the roast. Dark roasts will actually have less caffeine.

If the coffee cooled and then was reheated will allow the oils to separate and possibly all get poured into the first cup.

I wouldnt recommend taking up smoking again. That will just mask the flavor anyway.

Quitting Smoking has destroyed my taste Buds !

nothing tastes good to me anymore without adding Sugar, salt or Pepper to it.

I was never a Big candy or cookie eater, Now I'm always woofin' 'em down.

But I Refuse to add sugar or milk to coffee, Maybe I'll try soaking my extra Nicotine patches in the pot :laughing7:

I haven't had Maxwell House in years, so I don't know if they have changed things up or not. Right now I;m a Folgers drinker. Chase and Sanborn is pretty good too. My favorite is Blue Mountain, when I can find it. It cost a lot, but well worth it.
Bill

Folgers Colombian Supreme if you can find it . . . get you a coffee measuring spoon and use one heaping measure for every 2 cups.

Hey, if the spoon can't stand in the cup on its own, it ain't real coffee.

Feeling like trying something with more flavor? Don't know if it's available where you are, but French Market's Coffee and Chickory or Community's Coffee and Chickory are both pretty good. When I was back home, we always used Luzianne's Coffee and Chickory but can't get it here in Arkansas.

stop coffee

you don't need it...you just desire it.

find something BETTER that goes in your mouth and you approve and enjoy even on the second go-around HAHA

I don't know about Maxwell house, but Folgers changed their coffee. They put it through an extra drying process, which makes it lighter, which costs less to ship. They don't seem to care that they ruined the taste. You still get a good batch sometimes, but you never know. When something is good, LEAVE IT ALONE!

LOL Dumb Question I guess.

Why does my second cup of Coffee in the morning taste like it was sitting
all day lately ? is it because I quit Smoking ? :icon_scratch:

It's Maxwell_H

If i switch to Drugs or Hard Liquor will it taste good again ?
or do I need to re-take up smoking ? :laughing7:

Had the same problem when I switched from Copenhagen to General snuff. First cup of coffee tasted normal but after that it got worse and then to the point when it just did not smell good any longer so I quit.

We you change a major aspect of your daily consumption or diet your pallet tends to change as well.

Jeff if you add a couple shots of Kahlua to it each cup will taste better and better....:occasion14:.

I cut out my sugar in December of 2010, I recently cut out artificial sweetners as well... I have now switched to the "miiracle berries".........
Synsepalum dulcificum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fruit is amazing, it makes anything sour taste sweet and improves the flavor of many things......

If you recently quit smoking - I would expect things to taste different. Less pleasureable, ect.

After 3-6 months, it will even out, and you will taste flavors you forgot you knew!

best coffee of the day

i dunno, but the first cup of the day always tastes best to me. I grind the beans, drip thru filter. Brothers is the cheapest brand with a decent bean. I remember when I was a kid in the 1960's, my grandfather had a restaurant grinder in his house; my dad tells me he had it when he was a kid in the 1930s. That's a wonderful aroma memory. I wonder whatever happened to that machine?

You got to use cream and sugar! Coffee is inherently bitter.
Now, I get my coffee from BJ's so it is branded Berkley & Jensen. I get the whole beans and grind a pint at a time in my vita mix . The beans are Arabica. It is called Guatemala French Roast. The beans look wet in the bag.

Maybe your coffee taste like that because you made it yesterday. lol Frank

LOL When I worked in a Bar, I used to drink very thick day Old coffee
all the time. We had a 10 cup Pot, the owner would to throw a filter in
& fill it to the brim.
what was left over at 2AM would get heated up about 5PM the next day
and drank before a fresh pot was made.

Of course I was a chain smoker then so cigarettes helped make it taste good

And Sugar & milk were Banned from my Coffee since the first cup I ever drank

Try CoffeeMate Italian Sweet Cream with your coffee. It is more addictive than tobacco. lol Frank
