Found this at a CW campsite along with a few Eagle buttons, camp lead ...etc. Based on that I want to be sure whether this button could be associated or not. The property has had many history layers prior to and after the CW so it very well could be civilian and later than the other artifacts. It had steel back that crumbled soon after excavating so no back mark or shank variation was available for me to research. I have searched for this coat of arms and have come up empty. Could it be totally fictitious in its design? It is about 3/4 of an inch in diameter. Any help on this is always appreciated, thanks.

Does anybody recognize this? I would think that the striped shield would ring a bell to someone, but then again it may just be civilian generic design and mean nothing. I doubt it is a family crest, that I am pretty certain. I am putting it back top hoping someone new looking will notice something. Thanks for looking....vn

Although your button does have a "Coat-Of-Arms" type of emblem, it is definitely a 20th century Civilian-usage "Fashion" blazer/coat/jacket button. Note that the emblem has very weak detail instead of sharp/crisp detail -- like the difference between a play-money coin and an actual government-issued money coin. Actual "Coat-Of-Arms" and Family Livery buttons have sharp detail. Also, your weak-diework button has a (rusted-out) iron/steel back, which is typical on cheaply-made "Fashion" imitations of old European Coat-Of-Arms and Family Livery buttons.
