Looks like a Water Moccasin, nasty snake. Could be a Rattler just hard to tell with those great camera photos.
I bet that snake woke your eyes up.
I think I'm going to start a donation fund for a new camera for Newt. His phone just doesn't cut it. :P

That guy is a beauty. Did you put him/her down in the water and let it swim away?
When I find them I try to move them way away from the place where I am hunting.

Not dumb. This is a common water snake. They are often misstaken for poisonous snakes most of the time. Too bad.
