Co-worker's coin jars
So lately I have been interested in regular nickels and pre-1982 pennies because of the rising metal rates, and I was thinking about how I can gather what's around without ordering from the banks - as several people have said earlier, until you can turn in for melt value, despite the sick premium on those, there's little value in sinking money into buying boxes of nickels (or pennies, for that matter, without a Ryedale). I work in a place where we wear uniforms, and in every locker each guy has a jar or cup or whatever with their pocket change in it, apparently dumped there every day, just like I do. So today when I got off I asked a couple of guys if I could convert their coins to dollars for them, telling them I was looking for old pennies or silver. They were more than happy to get rid of all that change and get some paper, and out of just 4 guys I found this:
1963 Rosie
1964 Rosie
8 Wheats
16 2010 P dimes **can someone please tell me if these are worth saving? I have heard they are so I have been culling them when I find them, and I figured to sell when I had a full roll, but if I am wasting my time here please say so!**
This really cost me nothing because all the other change went into my dump jar, the guys were happy, and I got a few more coins for the pile... I can only imagine once I have gone through the whole place!
Anyway, with the price of silver like $35/oz, it was definately worth hunting
