any idea what its made out of.. boss?

The one thing i haven't learned over years of detecting is what things are made of except iron of course. I would think possibly copper since it has a green color to it. Could be lead?

Looks like a bronze bushing. The part you have is the thrust surface with the channels cut for oil lubrication and it looks like it had the bearing surface for the shaft as well, but has broken off.
