Hey just commented in your other post. The color is something else. What is the material?

It's Hixton Quartzite Tn.......commonly found throughout the midwest states.

i'm with tears.....doesn't look right....

Hey fellas its a personal find found it on an island walking the shoreline when i was just a kid. I had found other points on other hunts but never anything this old..not sure what doesn't look right about it but i assure you its authentic.

Yea what doesn't look right? I'm a knapper and it would take a good one to make that. Quartzite is hard to work with. In my opinion it looks good.

I would have to agree with authenticity. After looking at close ups it has everything it needs to be authentic. Staining under the hinge fractures, correctly made. and clear patination over the point. Although points can be made to look like that this point looks every bit authentic............ JMO................GTP

Ill post a few othet pics of stuff found on island..scottsbluff and pendant..thanks guys

To me, this one is a no brainer. For sure a Clovis and a damn fine one. Quartzite rarely makes as fine a looking artifact as this one. Great find!! Thanks for sharing it. It's sleet and ice here. I couldn't get out and hunt today. You gave me my "fix" for the day, with this one.

Wow that's a beauty! I live about ten miles from Hixton and the Silver Mound site and have a scraper that's very similar in color to your first picture. Did you find it in western Wisconsin? I completely understand if you'd rather not say.

Congratulations,

Nice find and Welcome to TNet! :hello:

found it lacrosse co. wi

yea thats a good one, thanks for the peek.

I would think that material does not show knapping scars well and if worn or tumbled on a sandy shore it would be even less. If you google hixton you will see many smooth examples. You have fluted and unfluted and some well with semi flutes. The shape looks right but I am not familiar with the area or smart enough on the materials outside my region. I say if you found it I have no reason to doubt you.
Cheers

wow that blows mine out of the water, talk about perfect.....
