it is hixon quartz...is that not a real common stone for a clovis?

The source of Hixton Orthoquartzite (silicified sandstone) is in Wisconsin.

Finding a Clovis made of any material is a rare find, but Wisconsin would be
a logical place to find a Clovis made of Hixton.
 

Very Nice Find! I find that Quartzite in my area but it is a grayish white.
