Clovis fragment? If so, what does that mean for the stones it's with?

This is kind of a re-post because I picked the wrong forum yesterday. This weekend I dug a small patch of ground that exploded with worked stone along with large, somewhat peculiar stones like large split river, field rock, and other hard material where I swear it seems like finger shaped areas were ground out so the stones fit your hand like a glove (the images don't do the contours justice). So...

Question 1: In that picture with the three rocks, is the center stone the fluted base of a Clovis? What about the other?
Question 2: If it is a Clovis base, is it worth considering the possibility that some of those larger stones are Paleo tools like skinners, etc?

Again, all of this was found in the same small patch of ground and I haven't dug anything like any of these stones in 10 years of digging that property. They're all kind of joined at the hip.

My thanks in advance for your expert opinions.

Don't see a Clovis base. Looks middle to late Archaic to me. Keep looking, it looks like your site has some potential.

Another detail

Middle to late-Archaic. That's a great start, thanks Joshuaream. Most of these artifacts -- and there are many more emerging from this one patch of ground -- are cruder than anything I can find online. Is pre-Clovis also a possibility?

I should have also mentioned that a lot of the points are concave. I thought the first one I found was just a defect, but they keep coming up looking like this guy here. Additional thoughts? Thanks again.

Lots of flake knifes/ scrapers are curved.

At this point in time, there is very limited agreement on Pre Clovis in North America. I get that we all want our artifacts to be the oldest that they can be but a bigger picture is painted when looking and judging at the entirety of all the artifacts that you've presented.

You're exactly right. That's all I'm trying to do. Determine the youngest artifact so I can make an accurate assessment. Honestly, I'd be just as satisfied knowing these rocks were 10 days old. Most of what I love about treasure hunting is solving puzzles so I can picture the past as it truly was.

My thanks again -- love this community.

Enormously helpful! This is just what I was looking for!!

Have you ever looked up some of the artifacts being found around smith island? It's a small island off the Maryland / Virginia shore ..... If you look up Tim Marshall on you tube there's a few videos of his finds ... I hope to make it out there this summer

No, but I own an oyster company that operates out of Tangier Island and head that way all the time! Fantastic to have this information. Let's pair up maybe!

This is not a reflection on the gentleman you mention, or on genuine Smith Island finds, but if you were to Google "fake fluted points on eBay found on Smith Island", you will find there has been a problem in recent months.

I almost booked a trip with Tim to go out for the weekend. I have seen some of his finds - some nice stuff. He doesn't charge much to take you out to his spots.

Yea I have heard that ..... As far the the person u mentioned I met him personally and saw his collection no doubt about the authenticity and talking with him you can tell he's an enthusiast that loves this hobby. Also all the finds that have come from that area I would say strongly supports the Solutrean theory atleast imho ....

That's neat tangier is rite there in the mix... Iv stayed at Ewell island and from what Iv been told a lot of the smaller uninhabited islands around there have artifacts on them.... It's unfortunate the water levels keep rising but still plenty of time to hunt.
