I have recently inherited a Shenandoah model Grandfather clock that was sold by the Harpeth Clock Company in Pegram Tennessee. The company is no longer in business. The weights were removed while in storage and transport. I have the weights and covers but need some new weight cover end caps as the old ones are in disrepair. While getting the clock operational is much desired and securing an approximate value is of interest, we would keep the clock for its sentimental value.

Question: Is it possible to identify the clock works? What is value? Name of local who is qualified to repair and tune up to working condition? Thanks for all info....

Yes the makers of clockworks usually have their names stamped somewhere in the metal of the clockwork itself just like good watches do. I also like repairing mechanical clocks only as my great grandfather was a clock maker. I guess being mechanically inclined must run in the family. I've also cleaned a few in my time too lol! :laughing7:

I specifically collect the older LeCoultre and Girard Perregaux watches and all kinds of old clocks. I love them.

There are some really good history books on the development of the Longitude Clocks.
I can definitely recommend "Longitude" by Dava Sobel as a particularly good read.

Thanks for info.....There is a number following the model name of "Shenandoah". Perhaps it will help in my quest for more information. Thanks for assisting. If you live in Tennessee by chance and would be interested in repairs let me know. Thanks again.
