Hello!
I found this in a yard today about 10" down
Maybe a LC but no visible detail
Is this a peroxide or oil candidate in an effort to get some detail? Maybe to far gone
Thank you for your input!

UPDATE --> after a long bath in olive oil I believe I may have enough detail now for an ID (KGIII) possibly 1774 (as compared to the picture of the brown dated coin attached for reference)
What do you think?
Thank you!

Oww that's rough i f it was mine I would bring some peroxide to a boil add coin then baking soda and repeat once u determined if it might be salvagable put in a olive oil bath and soak for 2-3 weeks clean repeat good luck

What are the dimensions? That might help narrow it down. The pic on the right almost looks like it might be a French 6 deniers. I would try soap and water and a toothbrush and see if you can make out any more detail.

Second pic I do seem to see the top of a bust, with a straight line at the bottom. Not sure any of that will help. Good luck.

That looks like most of the large cents I find here in New Jersey- very toasted. I have not been able to pull details when they are that bad. Just for entertainment you should look at Aquachigger on YouTube. He has a video how to clean a coin or ruin it. He has his own technique that works if the coin is in better shape. Nice find - always good to find old, large copper!

Thank you for the replies!
Looks like one inch in diameterImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1436752633.591178.jpg

Not much to work with but my gut says not a large cent. British maybe?

Hard to clean up a near blank coin because all you get is a near blank coin, no details are going to pop with cleaning that one.
