Hello everyone:
Found these in my parents house while cleaning it out. Up in the garage storage area. I have no clue what I have here just really think it is a cool find. I live in St. Louis MO and only guessing they might have came from around here or St. James, MO.
Thought maybe someone could tell me something about the arrowheads or other objects in picture.
Thanks

There are some very nice points in there. They look really dirty or sooty like they were in a house fire. What is that coating?

I didn't notice a film. I'm far from knowing anything about any off these pieces. They were all in a cigar kind of box.
Should I do anything to them to clean them up?

Most are arrow heads or "points" a nice variety too, some for taking down larger game like deer, elk or bear, other smaller ones for birds like turkey, rabbit, squirrel. I think you have a few spear points and stone tools like a hammer or axe head in the upper left tray facing us viewers. Some of those elongated points could be for an atlatal which is a throwing javelin launched by a stick to give it greater distance thus the more aerodynamic head. I am only familiar with eastern arrow heads which I've recovered largely made of quartz and flint so I don't know a lot about what materials tribes who inhabited that region used but the designs are fairly standard. You might try finding a local expert, the archeologists at a local college is a good starting place. If you can identify the stone material you can identify the region....that is what us relic/artifact hunters are most eager to learn. Different points from different regions can mean a few things....trade, likely or warfare...very likely. If you want to clean them just use dishwashing liquid and perhaps a dash of apple cider vinegar soak 'em overnight ad use SOFT tissue to wipe away excess dirt. Good luck, thats a nice find

Wow, thanks for that post. That's cool info. I will look into finding out what each is made of. They maybe from anywhere, cause none of the kids knew they were up in garage. Again thanks, I'll enjoy trying to find out more about them.

First impressions if found over here in se Kansas

There are a wide range of ages in that group. Look classically authentic. They may be creek finds with water stains. Generally you have about a 10,000 year range there. Good individual pics will get you a lot of info on this site from some of your neighbors.

Thanks, I'm really enjoying the information and the investigating(I'm doing) that comes with everyones input.

Take a few good pics of individual artifa rd and you will get some better info. Might be best to do a few at a time m both sides and something for scale. Looks like you scored pretty good.

I will take some better pics and post them.
A couple of post mention authentic, I'm guessing you see some post that are fraudulent? Being fraudulent I'm also guessing would have to do with selling them?

Yes and yes. Some modern reproductions can go for big money if passed off as the real thing.

Absolutely. One of The most common way scammers offer fake points is to post them on social media claiming to know nothing about them hoping for a sucker to bite. Most if us can spot that at a moment's notice. Your artifacts look great. Might even be a couple of pretty rare items in there. Post good pics when you can.

Post the big stuff but don't forget these two also.

There is a money story behind these artifacts. I hand the box down to my wife. She says come down quick. She shows me the box and my two brothers come over. I blurt out that I'd give each brother $500.00 not to split them up. My oldest brother said I'm not interested in them so keep your money. My other brother took the $500.00 an a small arrowhead.
Thanks for everyone's input much appreciated
