Is heated hydrogen peroxide safe for both silver or copper coins? Have used this method on Lg. cents and works great. This one I found today. Very thin planchet and can't tell if it is silver or copper yet. IT IS VERY OLD. Came up as copper on MD reading and was only 3-4" deep. NOT A BUTTON. Can't make out any detail yet but I know olive oil just is NOT going to cut it. Slightly larger than a quarter. HELP

I think in both cases, these are copper coins--unless you can see where a shank was attached to one side of 'em.

I used to get lots of CW relic finds and clean them. These near slug coppers were often in the lots.

Most are early English regal coppers or state coppers and date in the 1700's.

I cleaned them down with a rock tumbler. I tried other methods with less success.

It's a shame but most of these have no detail left.

I hope you find some detail.

I'm crurious? What's the width of the "disk"? I found one but I think it's to big for a coin? 2" or 50 mm? Been soaking it for a bit, just in case?

I found one just like that :icon_scratch: a week ago ..Mine is a bit smaller then a Quarter with no detail, not sure how to clean..I'll be checking back here to see what answers you get ;D...
