cleaning beach coins in a tumbler

I don't hunt on the beach but I have pulled some pretty narly coins out of cars at the junk yard as well as some I have found in the ground. The cheapest thing I have found is Fish thank gravel and dish soap. I am just about to try using pumice powder but I have not found enough coins to make a run yet. Just a tip GoJo and CLR do not work as well as you would think. If you want to spend money you could buy either ceramic media or stainless steel media off of ebay, but I have not tried it yet.

i agree with cedarratt.

you can't beat the tumbler for cleaning most smaller dug objects.

i clean all my pocket change this way.

i also clean valuable items this way by going easy with short turning times.

just make sure you never mix silver and copper together. if you do your clad coins will be a nasty copper color.

I use pea size aquarium gravel and a few drops of dish soap like boogeyman suggests.....I go through all coins first to be sure there are noe old silver before I put them in the jar that ends up being tumbled......
