I was using my Garrett AT Pro today and I detected a 20 foot X 40 foot section of an almost 5 acre field today and only found one old crushed beer can (not even worth posting a pic of) about 3 inches deep.. Cleanest field I've ever seen.. On a good note, the owner said I could come back anytime and detect it all if I wanted to.. I'm gonna go back in a couple of days soon as my wife gets through with me and all her honey-do stuff...

The everlasting Honey Do list. I haven't done many farm fields. I have an invite to do two that I haven't had time for yet, but I did hunt a foundation on a 5 acre field, and it have me a vintage silver watch case cover. Keep working it. 5 acres is a lot to work and I bet it's gonna kick you down some goodies sooner or later.

Oh yeah, I'm for sure going back.. I've known the owner and his daughters for several years and before he moved there it was a corn, bean, turnip green, some kind of field, now it's just his very large front yard and he says come back anytime and hunt the whole thing anytime I want to.. Hope you're right about it giving up something good, hate to know I did all that walking and swinging for nothing.. Hopefully by this weekend I'll get a break from the wife's list and get to take that stroll around the area and knock out at least another section, maybe even recheck some with a different machine just to get some practice with it..

was the dirt all "puffy" -if you go immediately after plowing the soil is real loose and signals are hard to lock in on...go back after it rains a couple times and compare results.....
I never started finding real old coins until I started doing farm fields.....near rivers/streams always best.........

I detected a new field that I'd scouted a month or so ago.....ended up with 4 or 5 lead tops off of roofing nails and nothing else......

Keep at it. Just this past Sunday I hunted a new corn field for a few hours. Only found one coin but it was a 1883 Indian Head Penny. There's a ton of field to cover and I knows there's much more out there. Keep swinging and great things will turn up.

No, the ground had settled hard, in the last couple of years it hasn't been turned or planted at all.. The owner now just uses it as his front yard with a long driveway on each side..

Thanks.. I'm gonna hit a section again maybe this weekend and may even overlap what I've already detected just to be certain I didn't miss anything.. I may take a couple of detectors and overlap with each one..
