6in. Long 1inch across the striking head.
Just looking at endless amounts of hammers.
What age would be the head?

Could that be an old farrier's hammer?

Beautiful! That could be 1800 to 1850ish based on the style (I assume there is a hole through it for the handle(?)). But I don't know how you would tell as the techniques used by blacksmiths are fairly traditional and hang on longer in some regions than in others.

Octagonal shape reminds me of some rifles I had from the Fifties. I’d put a handle on that bad boy!
