Hello Folks
It has been a while sense I have posted any thing on here.
I have not found to much in the last year or so that was worth writing home about so it just gets tossed in the bowl and forgotten about. However I did find a Broken Class Ring but it did not have any name or initials on it so no way to return it. I had it fixed and tossed it in to the bowl with some others that I could not return. The date on the ring, I thought was 1951. Well I found the owner for one of the other rings and when I was getting it out of the bowl I spotted this ring again and it said 81. I did not remember having a ring from 1981 so I put it aside and gave the other ring back to its owner. When I got back home I check out the ring again and it is marked 1851, Not 1951.
The Ring is from (Midlothian P.S. 1851.

The place that I found this ring was a Trading post in the early 1800 and a little later it was a General Store and then a Sawmill in the late 1800’s.

So My Question is. Is this a Class Ring? I have never heard of a Class Ring that old.
I am Very Sorry now that I had it fixed.

Thank you for any help that you may give me.
Kevin

It could be Art Deco but I still am not sure. You can still see one of the places where it was broke in the top of the numbers so they could have messed it up when they fixed it also. And if that is the case, it would fit this area very well also because the Chicago area Boy Scouts also used this site for summer camps.

I have never heard of a Class Ring or School Ring from a small town from that time frame. But I am still learning as life goes on. Thank you very much for your information.

I agree that it's probably a 9 that has been damaged and then worn down to make it look a little like an 8.

according to wikpedia....The tradition of class rings originated with the class of 1835 at the United States Military Academy at West Point. [SUP][1][/SUP] The oldest high school class ring tradition in the United States is at Falls High School in International Falls, Minnesota.[

Midlothian H.S. in VA was first accredited in 1924 and graduated three students that year. Midlothian H.S. in TX was established in 1940. I do not think that ring is from the 1800s.
