I'll be going clam digging next weekend and plan on doing some metal detecting if weather permits next weekend. I ordered a new sand scoop and cant wait to use it, hope the UPS guy brings it before I leave. Heres the tide tables if anyone is interested.
Tentative opening dates and morning low tides in March are:

Friday, March 27 (7:49 a.m. 0.0 ft.) Twin Harbors, Mocrocks

Saturday, March 28 (8:29 a.m. -0.4 ft.) Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis, Mocrocks

Sunday, March 29 (9:12 a.m. -0.6 ft.) Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis, Mocrocks

You can find all this info at the wdfw.wa.gov website under shellfish

Went to Ocean Shores for the weekend and got skunked metal detecting, I must have dug up 30 aluminium cans on the beach. The sand scoop worked pretty good and it is very heavy duty. You have to drag it behind you or the metal detector picks it up but it leaves a nice line in the sand while dragging it so you now where you have been. The wife and I got our limit on Razor clams yesterday and today so we got a total of 60 clams. Heres a picture of yesterdays clam catch.

Years ago I lived in Silverdale, just a block off the bay.I can remember the kids digging those butter clams quite well. But I did not really care for the gooey ducks they brought home.Have a great time.

What detector do you use to find clams? Are these clams high in iron, copper or zinc. I know oysters are high in zinc(viagra).
Hey Seamuss, They gotta be high in aluminium because every thing I dug up with the detector was a aluminium can or pie tin, after thirty of those I got fed up and quit, needless to say I didn't impress the wife with my minelab SE as when we were through metal detecting she said" How much did you pay for that metal detector?". My reply was " I new I should have got the $2000. one ;D". Take care.

I'm not to fond of gooey ducks myself. Theres another dig this coming weekend and the wife wants to go but I'm not sure if my back can handle another clam dig so close together :'(. Take care and happy hunting.
