I found this in an area with Civil War History? Is this off a CW rifle sling?

I know this one.

Barrel tap key (Loop). The key bit has broken off. Could be 19th century.

Used in the top of the beer/cider barrel tap to let the beer out or stop it & put the key in your pocket.
