Sutlers token. Wonderful find. Greetings form Harrogate. 21st Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, a Federal company led by S. W. Price. They were at Knoxville, so apparently they came through Rutledge. Congratulations, Thanks for sharing.

WOW very cool and evidently very rare. congrats! that's a fantastic find. there's a pic of an identical one at this site, once there you can click on 'sutler tokens for sale' at the top of the page. none for sale are like yours, but it shows that most sutler tokens are worth several hundred dollars. I would think yours could be valued some less due to environmental damage, but still worth a decent amount in any condition. again, congrats! Thanks for the front picture! I needed that too make sure what kind of Sutlers token you have! The first photo is a token that resembles the token you have on the front side. The 2nd photo is a 5 cent 21st. Ky. V.I Sutlers token but the front of the token is got a Eagle and a date on it!

Sutlers tokens can range from $300 up too $7k+ the Fort Laramie Dakota sutlers token is worth $2,500+ while the Clarksville Tennessee sutlers token can go for $4-6k and the 6th Maine Battery Sutler token goes for $8-10k the 23rd Massachusetts Regiment token goes for $1,500. So these tokens can be very valuable.

It would be best too contact The Civil War Token Society @ here The Civil War Token Society - History to maybe find out the token you have value! I would say that the token you have could possibly be in the $300 too thousand dollar range but too a strong Kentucky collector attempting to buy all varieties that price could go up too way more possibly at a auction or online auction. Again you should contact The Civil War token Society or buy (it is a $125 book) Civil War Sutler Token Book by Dave Schenkman you can buy that here civilwartokens.com - Civil War Sutler Token Book by Dave Schenkman it may or may not have the token you have listed because some tokens are unlisted in his book. Also too note in buying the book you may be able too contact Dave Schenkman and get his idea on the value of this token!

You can value them on eBay search "civil war token". It's the real current value not some made up opinion.

What makes this token more valuable than most of the ones I see on Ebay is this one is got a regiment listed on it the 21st. Ky. V.I . Most artifacts with regiment listed on it brings value! It being a Sutlers token with a regiment listed on it makes it pretty rare! I am almost positive this token could bring $300-$1,000 and too a Kentucky collector maybe more into the $500-$1000 range. Im not sure what you mean by "real current value" since the ones on E-bay are mostly common Civil War tokens. There are some CW tokens on E-bay being sold for over $1,500+ there really is no steady price too lot of these tokens that are not Sutlers so going by E-Bay really is not a good method too determine value.

conngrats on your find

This is a rare "O.V.M." Sutlers token! Anyone that deals with Civil War artifacts knows how much O.V.M. artifacts sell for and how rare they can be! This O.V.M Sutlers token I have seen sell in the $500-$1500 range!

No problem! Be careful with the token do not try and use anything too clean it other then maybe Olive Oil. If you know a professional coin dealer they may offer coin/token cleaning services. I would not attempt too try and clean this token yourself if you do not know how. I do know this token can clean up perfect though if you bring it to the right person too clean! Good luck! :occasion14:

echodog is right about real values on eBay, but be sure you look at actual sales, not asking prices. And, be sure you are comparing apples with apples, not oranges...
