I stayed close to home this weekend...
Literally across the road in the field behind our mailbox.

I hunted this patch exactly 10 years ago with my Ace 250 and decided to give it a run with the AT Pro.
The ground is loaded with nails, in fact just about too many to use a pinpointer.

I dug a large plug to check out a sporadic, but repeatable, signal in the upper 70s-80.
(In the side of the hole was some marking tape that I had placed back in 2010, intending to return some day and maybe sift the area.)

Lots of nails in the loose dirt and 1 or 2 rivets and burrs from horse tack.

I then checked the upper plug. Remember I had dug this same plug in 2010.
There it was, in just about the top 4 inches!

ARMY AND NAVY and the same size as a One Cent piece...

THE FEDERAL UNION
IT MUST
AND
SHALL
BE
PRESERVED

Thanks for Looking!

Nice find, congrats!!

Thanks, Yak1366.
I'm debating now whether to clean the reverse side any further or leave the dirt to bring out the contrast in the letters...

Great token! I found the same one years ago that someone had made into a makeshift washer :BangHead:--big *ss hole right through the center. Yours appears to be in great shape with little to no pitting on the obverse. Beautiful find Nick!

Nice one Wildcat. It is never a bad day to find a CW Token, and one in good shape like this

Nice recovery! Sometimes when we stick close to home and concentrate on one site we get something good. Congrats on the token.

That is such a neat find! I'm always amazed when I return to a spot after several years, and detect it again with a different machine. Always new stuff to find.

Thanks, Erik! Sorry to hear yours was holed. They weren't spendable anymore after the CW so I guess someone was trying to be a little bit too practical.

Thanks, {Sentinel}! This one is my first...

Thanks, pepperj. You are absolutely right. Based on this find I'll be spending more time out there now swinging slow and looking for those fainter signals.

Hey, Silvermonkey thanks! At first I thought it was an Indian Head Cent but was very pleasantly surprised. With the short days after work I think I'll be hitting the yard much more often...
