Went to a spot I've only hit one other time for an hour this evening. It's across the road from a pretty large civil war battlefield. The tag was on the same bank as the spur, anyone know if this is war related? It has a 3 and a sideways 4 on it.

Looking around, I'm thinking maybe cow tag, just location makes everything seem like treasure. : )

The tag looks like an equipment tag, not for an individual, who would have had their name on it. Nice stuff!

Congratulations on the nice finds. The tag looks exactly like the coal mine chits we have here in the mountains. Each miner had a group of them with the same number. They placed one on the board to tell who was in the mine and they also put one on the coal car they were filling so they got credit for the coal they dug. I find them all the time around here. Sometimes they recycled them and struck through the numbers on one side and put a new number on the back. Here is one I dug up yesterday with number 22. I have found multiple tags with the same number in a yard I’m detecting.

Stay safe and keep swingin.

I hadn't considered that, but given the mining history of the town about a mile from here I'd say that's a very good possibility.

Nice finds. I have found tags like that before, and mine are either Livestock tags or tool equipment tags, depending on where I found them.

I bet there is a dog tag there that would be awesome to hunt a Battlefield those are some cool finds I would be all over that place finding relics like those Well done Stay safe Tommy

I agree, miners tag. Find them constantly around here. Nice spur. Complete and not mangled or broken.
