I recently dug this @ a cabin site in Ohio. There is no marks but ring is silver and shield is gold. This site had several Infantry and General service coat buttons along with 2 store cards. This is hundreds of miles from any battlefields but i often find coat buttons and have been lucky enough to find 3 plates also. Can i get opinions on what this ring is and if you have seen any examples?

I found a similar ring near Pittsburgh. There is a slight “coin” stamping on the inside, behind the shield. I also found pre CW military items at this site thru WW1, but suspect my ring came from a CW soldier or officer. The gold inlay in your ring is very interesting. I hope you have some luck digging into its history.

Ir sorta looks like some of the WWI era patriotic rings I've seen ,, sometimes referred to as trench art rings.

My silver one is thin and looks somewhat handmade, which would follow the trench art direction, but stamped “coin”, I’m not sure.

Just a thought, but it could have been made from the back of an old pocket watch. Almost all the watches from that era were made from coin silver and were stamped "coin". The ring appears handmade and pocket watches didn't last long in the war anyway.
