Hello All,

I found this a couple weeks ago at Morrisville Battlefield area in NC.

Civil War Sword Clasp Back.webp

At our Raleigh, NC meeting Tuesday someone identified this as a sword "holder" (cant remember exactly what he said) or clasp to attach to the belt.

Let me know what you all think it is.

Thanks and HH

All the ones I've seen have (Closable) hooks on them, in order to attach to the rings on the scabbard. Do a Google search on Sword Holders and you'll see what I mean. Doesn't mean I am correct though.

how big is it?

It is about 4 1/2" long. Part of it has broken off on the left side (pretty noticable).

Thats what it looks like to me. I had a buddy dig one right beside me that looked similar to it except the hook part was intact on his. But the closing mechanism was also broken off.
