Civil War Period Brass? Maybe.

Update: Rob Langdon just ID'd it as a "thumb loop off of an old candlestick." That fella is a walking relic encyclopedia. Anyway, within a 5' area where I found this, I also found a button back, old iron scissor handles and, I believe, a gun tool. My diggin' partner also found some broken iron kettle pieces close by. We suspect we may have stumbled upon a camp. We're gonna wait for cooler weather, less spiders, and frost to go back and hit it harder. (End of update.)

This item looks very familiar, but I'm not sure. It was recovered from an area in central Virginia near an old road bed that saw lots of WBTS traffic. Any ideas? Thanks.

Cool brass, bet it blow your head off. HH....

I think its part of a candle holder. Found 2 so far and that's what I have been told. Great find!

Yes, that's it. Still an old piece and could be CW related. Other items found in the area make us believe it might be a camp.

I can bet those finds give you some hope for a great fall hunt.

Yes, we're hoping so. If not a camp, there must be an old homesite very close by.

I found one exactly like that at an old homesite, def from a candlestick.

Can we see the other goodies you found at that site? Sounds like you are on to something for sure.

I need to clean them up. Will post soon. Yes, I think we might have stumbled onto something as well. Thanks for looking!
