found what I believe to be a civil war navy button. Can anyone help ID? I have seen others online that are similar but with a striped edge and/or raised edge. CZ3D toned it as foil.....Brass? ? thanks for the help. Also found a gene autry cap gun, and they were produced from 193? to fall 1951....heavily corroded though....great day out.

Your button is not a Civil War button, it is much older, you did not say what if there is a backmark or not. but going by your photo it is very similiar to the Alberts NA69A button. Estimated age 1808-1828. If the backmark says Armitage/Phila and 20mm in diameter than it is defiinetly that particular button. But all buttons that are one piece with that type of shield appear to be from War of 1812 to a few years thereafter. Nice find.

the back is worn smooth. I can see that there was some writing on it but only part of two letters remain. do you have any links about this type?
I couldn't find any. thanks for the info!
