This Civil War medal was found by a 417 club member, it had been thrown out in the trash along with two other CW medals and the soldiers bible. Can anyone tell me anything about it. I know that it is from the Rooster Regiment, but what does it signify? Thank's for your response....Steve

Glad I could help. It's a great item!

Some of these badges were privately purchased by veterans. Others were presented by states, counties, or various organizations.

Ladder badges of this sort commonly retail for several hundred dollars apiece. Certain named badges, those related to famous units, and badges of large, ornate, &/or unusual design can go for well over $1,000.
