Civil War Major General Robrt Patterson FOB?

I think this is a FOB, image looks like Major General Robert Patterson. 1-5 o'clock reads MAG GEN U.S.A.
11-12 looks like OTT, but I can't make out anything else. Bottom looks like T.W.R. (Maybe R.W.R) Pat?
Thank you for your opinions for this metal detector find. This is my first post so I hope I did it correctly.

I put my two cents in. Looks to me like a Mexican War era uniform, Maybe Winfield Scott? Just a guess

I agree with JoeG. Winfield Scott was a popular figure and was promoted to Major General in 1841.

Now that i look at the actual pictures of these men, i would side on the Winfield Scott side...STILL an awesome find!
