Civil war items or something else?

I have a couple items here, I can’t figure out what they are. I found them in an area that experienced heavy fighting during the civil war. Any help would be appreciated .. I think the first is some type of bullet, no clue about the other.

The lower item is a bullet, definitely more modern than the civil war. Probably a .223 or .243 caliber. What is on the other side of the item on top?

First thought is a part of a can of some sort. Where the handle would attach or insert.

That's it, I think. I've seen them on old (mid-20th-Century) metal paint cans.
