I have seen such things as this listed for sale as Civil war Sash buckles. I haven’t been able to disprove this statement, but I doubt they are from the civil war or Civil war Era. I do believe they are some kind of buckle, but I don’t know which kind and for what purpose they had. Please if anyone can shed some light as to what these things are it would help me decide if I should did the other ones out of my recycle bucket. Thanks for looking

Hello Alan,

Your first few items are 'suspender clips', the last item pictured is a 'buckle shield' which hung from a horse halter.
Suspender clips can date from the mid-1860s, yours look to be from the 1870s - 80s. The buckle shield dates closer to c1900

These were in your recycle bucket ?

I'd have to keep those no matter the year of mfg.

Dig the rest out please .LOL

I guess that’ll teach me to be to quick to judge an Item. I really had no idea these things could be that old. I thank you for the confidence and the new found respect for these types of suspender clip. The monogram one I believe says W S & H .
