Last week I attended the invitational DIV hunt in beautiful Culpeper, VA and had a great time as always. This was on my bucket list and I was so excited to find it. At first I thought it was a large cent then I showed it to my buddies James Bibb and Josh (Sentinel) right after I dug it and James cleaned a little to reveal some of the detail. That was when we recognized it was an ID tag. The name on the tag is Frank Ritz Co. E 4th US INF ANTIETAM, FRED'K'SBURG, GAINS MILL, S. MOUNTAIN, MALV. HILL. The front still needs to be cleaned but I want to make sure it is cleaned properly as this is one of my best finds lately.

Well I have been waiting to see this jewel up on the banner list from the day you dug it, like I told you then...that's as good as it gets Civil war in my opinion. Something you can trace has so much significant value. Congratulations buddy

CONGRATS on a fabulous Civil War find and for making the BANNER on this historical piece! :) Breezie

Randy, I knew when I saw that Sweet Thing that it was NO token, that you had something MUCH more special when I read the words "Gains Mill!" CONGRATULATIONS, I knew it had more detail...and boy did it ever, you can read all the battles, the name, EVERYTHING. That is a fantastic, holy grail find, that not too many folks get to find these days and it could'nt have been found to a nicer, better friend! Congratulations again on the find and not even a doubt that it would make the Banner!!
