Hey man .
We take'em however we can get them these days.

I always liked that Design of ID Disk, Hopefully W/o Over cleaning You can eventually get a Name & if not it's still an awesome
personal piece of Civil War History.

I would love to dig on in that condition , worse ,or Def, Better. I loathe those 'Fertilized ' Relics but again MUCH better than
nothing.

To perhaps view some hidden detail you can rub oil from your skin on the item, sometimes you can get some information. I use this method for old coppers, water cleaning usually removes any chance of detail recovery. Another method is soaking in mineral oil for an extended time, this had worked wonders for some of my most toasty farm found Large cents, Colonial coppers and IH's.
