Civil War Hook

[Civil War Geek]

This relic was dug near Brandy Station VA along with 40 shot Minie balls and some artillery fragments. I'm not sure exactly what this hook went too. Any help would be appreciated.

Knapsack hook?

Fairly common, used on everything from horse tack, to sword belts.
It's hard to say exactly, the best you can do is guess based on what else is there.

I found one this year also and was told part of horse tack along the lines of a team of horses or horse drawn wagon.

Sword belt hook. The things i have found called knapsack hooks do not look like this one. I say sword belt hook. I could be wrong tho. Not trying to insult anyone.

I believe it is a snap buckle.....part of horse tack ensemble.
