Civil war gun parts, bullets and what-nots and OH I'M GONNA BE A GRANDPA!!

This is the combination of a couple hunts. The high-lites are the Enfield trigger housing, barrell band with sling attachment and a couple bullets. I don't have a clue what the big brass thing is kinda looks like a fuse but I can't find any that match it.

My son informed me last night I'm gonna be a Grandpa.. I'm too young for this :D

John
Great finds .Looks like the Tennessee soil was kind to the gun parts. Are you in a camp or skirmesh area ? I am new to the site but been hunting since I was a kid and it great seeing all the cool stuff out of the ground. I am in the 37411 area in Tenn. Thank you for sharing your finds,

The item in the 4th photo is a musket sling hook.

You can see another one here:

Also looks like the "guts" of a pocketwatch there.  Still working on the fuse-looking piece...  I am not certain that it is an artillery fuse piece...

That shield shaped piece of brass I swear I've seen it somewhere before, and I think that piece IS Civil War.

Best Wishes,

Buckles

6th pic on the right looks kinda of like a Hotchkiss time fuze but the top has me thinking different, dont think its a fuse. I get you a pic of a Hotchkiss fuse.

Congrats John. Nice finds. The triangular piece of brass could be one half of a hinge. HH.

Re: Civil war gun parts, bullets and what-nots and OH I'M GONNA BE A GRANDPA!!

Thanks Guys,
I really put in some hours for these meager finds. I gained permission on 3 new sites but they are all beyond trashy. The history is there but alot of modern trash on each site. The one home was built in 1840's and the homeowner had found half a CW Saber and a D-guard Bowie knife while plowing his garden last week... Sounds good but this place is like a city dump and the man has a mechanic shop on site so he has dumped the grindings from his brake lathe all over the place for years. The other is an 1830's cabin/house absolutely ton's of square nails but just as much can slaw, foil and fruit jar lids. The other is said to have been built in the 1730's I don't know that I totally believe that. The landowner says no one else has ever hunted it but I would beg to differ. Aluminum cans, rusty iron, pull tabs you name it all dug and left on top of the ground.
SO these sites are pretty much all washes, back to the drawing board.
