Civil war gun buttplate???

Hello everyone, just needed some help identifying this. I think its a buttplate off a gun. Its brass and was found by an old house with civil war activity. Dont know what gun it goes to. Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks!!

Looks like it came off a early model springfield,like the 1846 one below.Going by how straight it appears.

Correct it's a butt plate, check to see if you can see any numbers on it...............HH

Gee thanks for posting this. I was just browsing this forum and saw this and realized the "funny looking shoehorn" I found last year is actually an Enfield butt plate.

And BobinsouthVA, you never know what something is....lol...if it weren't for the people on here I don't know what'd I do with me!!!!!
