Civil war era wedding ring?????

Ok, here goes, We hunted two CW sites this weekend, one we have hunted in the past and the other was a new permission that we got late in the day Saturday. The first site didn't produce a lot but I did get a few bucky balls, some camp lead and three wheat pennys. We obtained our new permission and only had an hour and half to hunt it, but done pretty good. I managed seven round balls and two bullets.
We went back this morning and found some more bullets (58 and 69 mini balls and a Prussian bullet)
and some brass objects to include what may be a soldiers brass wedding ring I'll need some help with this guy's, so give me your opinion.
I have read that lots of wedding rings from this time period where brass and this one may have been plated.
You can see were it is put together and it looks like there was something stamped in side. Hope you can tell from picture.
Please let me know your thoughts. This would be a great find for me!

My wedding band count in CW sites is as follows: Gold 0 Brass 4.

I have found those before also, I believe they were brass and then gold plated. I have a couple that came from CW camps and one that is a ladies wedding ring that is brass and had been covered with a "spooned" coin of some type. I found it at a picket camp on the river. I thinks it's a wedding ring too. Great finds...d2

I've found a few brass rings too. Don't know how you would date them unless they are engraved though.

be careful putting those old brass rings on your hand. I have had them crack in half doing that. they look deceivingly sturdy.

First, Great finds!

That ring could easily be from the mid-1800s. I found one much like it at an old farm near Kingston, New York. Most of the old-timers I was hunting with felt my find was from the Civil War era, fitting in with the farm's history. Congratulations!

Although I havent found any like that on CW battle fields, I have found 3 of them in fields where old homesteads once stood, that are in the same time era as the Civil War. Mine are all Brass.

That's what makes it such a great find to me. If it was in fact a Soldier that lost it then it would have been a big loss for him.

Agree. This was found on a retreat path from a local battle. It's a pinch point in the mountain and other CW relics were found with it. It's as conclusive as you gonna get.
