These items were found at a site that soldiers frequented prior to, during, and after the Civil War. I was curious if anyone knew what the items were? The one piece looks as though it could be a sabre handle but I think it is to small. Maybe a knife handle? The other items could be part of a belt/suspenders? Give me your best answer! Thanks!

No.2 is a strap-end to WWI era webbing.

#3 reminds me of a ww-1 era calvary knife handle. Have one quite similar in the museum. No photo though.

#3 looks like a knife butt end --the #2 looks like it laced up something at one time with a ring attached to the other side #1 a slide on a strap for adjusement .

No. 2 - Yes most likely Military web gear, however No. 2 also looks alot like it may have come off an old razor strop.

Thanks for the replies. DFXScout, I think you are right about the razor strop. I've done a little google searching and although I haven't found an identical match, the loop at the end of the attachment appears to be consistant with other razor strops. I think #2 is solved!

Thanks!

That first picture is, without question, a belt keeper like TT suggested... also solved thinks I.

Check the picture... just sayin...

Looks perfect, except that in the color photo the end has a hook rather than the loop. Maybe some other application that uses a loop, but the hardware looks dead on.

Fair enough - I was thinking the hook was bent to resemble a loop...

Razor strop out......end to a webbed belt in! I think that picture of the web belt sums that ID up pretty good! Now I know #1 is a belt keeper, thanks everyone. Did that belt keeper go along with the oval US plate or rectangle US plate? My buddy has an oval US plate from the same site.
