Found this bullet at an old farm that is on an 1877 plat map. The only other items found at this site are 1863 fatty IHC, old flat button, this bullet, bullet casing, and a crotal bell. I know Wisconsin is not known for civil war era artifacts but I keep dreaming of finding a civil war bullet, have found several general service buttons in this area. Is it possible this is one? Could use some bullet expertise. Thanks, Hunt on!

I’m not an expert but looks like a dropped civil war minie ball to me. A more knowledgeable member may correct me. Awesome find!

I may be wrong but I feel like similar slugs have come up from time to time and they tend to be pistol slugs, any crenellations in the groove?

Bullet 0.42" diameter and short. Does look like pistol bullet. Casing is rimfire and could have fired the bullet. So it appears old, but not sure its Civil War era. You might be able to ID the calibre with a little research and that might help.
