I found this buckle near a historic road in an area where there is a Civil War campsite. Can anyone tell if this is Civil War period?

I found this buckle near a historic road in an area where there is a Civil War campsite. Can anyone tell if this is Civil War period?

I do believe it is based upon what was presented. It was worn by Elmo Henderson. He died during the Civil War from a gunshot wound to the left pinky finger. This happened on Oct. 4, 1862 on a cloudy day. I believe I could reveal more if I saw a picture.
