just jokin of course but what is this? found n a field n illinois old townsite that gets plowed have found many civil war buttons and other period items.many solders served from il. but what the hell is this.made of heavy brass found it a number of years ago and have puzzled over it since then any ideas or conclusions? i am fairly sure its 1840s+ military. help!!!! Pretty sure this is a brass fitting from a Victorian period gas lamp.

Patriotic design, but looks like a gaslight fixture, missing valve handle part.
If thru hole between eagles is tapered, a definitive ID.
