🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Civil war cuff button?

Does anyone recognize this cuff button as civil war related? Found at Cavalry battlefield in Maryland in area where New York Cavalry occupied. Small fragile in bad shape I see a shield surrounded by what looks like paw marks?

I don't recognize it as a military button but I can't really see the details . I hope others will chime in to help soon.
