This is a look at my Civil War Collection. I will be focusing on 1 item at a time and seeing what other information you could give me. I am a big Civil War buff and I really like anything that has to do with the war. Today, I will be focusing on my cartridge box made by E. Gaylord. This cartridge box is special because it has the soldiers name on the inside flap. I believe it is for .58 cal cartridges specifically made for the model 1861 Springfield rifle. The soldiers name was W.H. Spencer. I acquired this cartridge box online and it was something that my collection lacked. I am interested to hear your thoughts on it and if you could provide any other information on when it was made. Thanks for looking at this piece of history and there will be more to come. Stay tuned for part 2.
